Family Moment Monday

Motherhood for Dummies hosts Family Moment Mondays, check her out to get more ideas on how to spend time together as a family!

If you are like me, then your leftover Halloween candy is both a desired indulgence and an unwanted temptation. So other than eating a handful of chocolate every hour for the next several days, what are some other ways to deal with all the candy?

*Make an Advent Calender! Count down the days to Christmas by placing a piece of candy for every member of your family for every day in partitioned drawers, plastic cups, and fabric. For an example Advent Calender, go here.

* Donate your candy to Operation Gratitude. This program sends your leftover candy to the troops stationed overseas in care packages. For more information go here.

*Crush up your candy and separate the different kinds into different Tupperware and refrigerate them. For the next few times you eat ice cream, you can add in these special mix-ins for an extra treat!

How do you plan on using your extra candy?

We don't have a lot of leftover Halloween candy (Halloween isn't big around here), but do have that problem during carinval. I really like the idea with the icecream. We'll definitely give that one a try (if I can pry the candy from my kids' hands)

Oh! You just saved me! I've been just going to town on candy because

1. I want it... and

2. I don't want it.

What good ideas! We'll do all of those ideas! Plus when you crush it up and freeze it you could add it to cookies or brownies when baking.

Hello Neighbor! One idea I heard a while back from a friend was about the Halloween Fairy: A couple days after Halloween, you put all the left over candy into a pot on the front porch and during the night, the Fairy comes and takes all the candy away and leaves behind something in exchange like a new book for each kid, a new video, whatever....
