Family Moment Monday

Motherhood for Dummies hosts Family Moment Mondays, check her out to get more ideas on how to spend time together as a family!

For me, Labor Day = camping. It's not always possible to go though, and even if it were, the campsites are usually overflowing with people and noise on this holiday weekend. So what's a camping lover to do?

Go backyard camping! Pitch a tent in the backyard and set up a campfire. Use your BBQ Grill to make dinner and use the campfire to make smores for dessert. For entertainment you could set up a horseshoe pit, play board games, and later gather around the fire to tell ghost stories. It would help keep everyone in the camping mood if some sort of rule were established to limit access to the house, perhaps only for bathroom breaks and getting ready for bed.

This is a special treat for the whole family and will feel like a mini vacation even though you're at home!

That sounds like fun! With little ones it sounds like the best way to start camping!

That IS a great idea!! We used to do that when I was little, and my favorite thing about it, was the bathroom was nice and convenient!! =)

Yes it is a small world, isn't it!! Are you talking about the park at Tres Placitas? I take my kids to that park ALL the time. If you ever see a gray Suburban with veterans plates parked in front of the park, and a bunch of blonde kids playing there, that is us!! =)I know there are a ton of houses for sale on that street, and I wish we could buy one. I am dying to get out of those apartments.... we have been here 4 years and no change in the forseeable future!! =)

oh we should sooo do that, cause we have been wanting to go camping but didnt know if out baby would do well with it. Camping in the back yard would be a great test run... plus if she freaks out... we are already right there! :)

Ummm...I think I'll pass. With the house right there, I would be totally tempted to go inside. Away from the mosquitoes!

What a great idea. You know...I feel a smores post in my future:-)

Thanks for stopping by my blog today. To be honest, I didn't know where to start either but Etsy is a good place. You can kind of get your feet wet before jumping in head first. I have had great response so, I am going to pursue this further. Anyway, that's my 2 cents on that:-)

Cute idea! I remember camping in the backyard when I was younger. If it stops raining here, maybe we can do this. :)

I loved doing this when I was little. One summer, a friend of mine stayed over for the backyard adventure. But she was too scared to sleep in the actual yard, so we pitched the tent on the back porch! haha. I am sure my son would absolutely LOVE to do this.

Yes, you can still get a table and when I talked to her on Monday she still had some. They are $30 for both Saturday and Sunday. If you want to email me (ksisco1974@yahoo) I will give you the lady's name & number. Or you can just call St. Thomas (892-1511) and they can tell you!! =)

You live in New Mexico plus your blog title has the word monkey in it!!

I was challenged to run for "President" along with my running mate Mr. Sock Monkey. We are attempting to campaign across America by getting "invites" to visit all 50 states from bloggers.

We have managed to get invitations from all but 11 states but are WORRIED we won't pull it off. (Mr. Sock Monkey is threatening to get ugly...)

I saw your blog listed somewhere and was hoping you might jump on board and invite us to your state!

You can read about our mission here: (this was the original post)

http://wonderfulworldofweiners.blogspot.com/2008/08/big-announcement.html

We decided to start our campaign ONLY if we get all 50 states. As it looks now, we are starting to write our WE COULDNT GET ALL 50 STATES CUZ WE SUCK concession speech!

Today's entry tells you the 11 states we still need!

Thanks for considering helping me (and one angry sock monkey!)

Hallie :)
